Terms of service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using thebitepassport you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. We may update these terms as the service changes; continued use after an update means you accept the current version.

2. The service

thebitepassport is an editorial food discovery site for travellers. It lists destinations and dishes with descriptions, typical prices, indicative dietary labels and tips, and offers a Food Passport, Food Missions and traveller voting. It is not a booking service, a restaurant guide with live data, or an official tourism information service.

3. Accounts

Accounts are optional and free. You may register with an email address and password or sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account, and you should tell us about any unauthorised use. Accounts are for people aged 16 or over.

4. Food Passport, Missions and voting

Without an account, your Food Passport, preferences and mission progress are stored in your browser only and can be lost if you clear your browser storage. With an account they are saved to your account and are available across devices. Traveller “Try this!” votes are one per dish per account and are shown publicly only as an aggregate count. We may remove votes or activity that appear automated, duplicated or manipulative.

5. Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to break, overload, scrape at scale, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the site, its accounts or its backend, and do not use it for unlawful purposes.

6. Intellectual property

The site's name, design, editorial text and images are owned by the operator or used with permission, and may not be republished or used commercially without permission. You may share links and short quotes with attribution. Personal, non-commercial use of the site is welcome.

7. Food, allergy and dietary disclaimer

Food information on this site is general information, not dietary, medical or food-safety advice. Recipes and ingredients vary by vendor and vegetarian, vegan and spice labels are indicative only. If you have allergies, intolerances, religious or medical dietary requirements, always confirm ingredients and preparation directly with the vendor before eating.

8. Accuracy

Content is compiled editorially and some of it is drafted with the help of AI tools and reviewed before publication. Prices are approximate and change often, and dishes and vendors come and go. We do not warrant that content is complete, current or error-free. Corrections are welcome at thebitepassport@gmail.com.

9. External links and third-party services

The site may link to external sites and relies on third-party services such as Google sign-in, Google AdSense and our cloud backend and hosting providers. We do not control third-party content or services and are not responsible for them; their own terms and privacy policies apply.

10. Advertising

The site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Ads are supplied by Google and its partners and are not endorsements by us. See the privacy policy and cookie policy for how advertising storage and consent work.

11. Availability and changes

The site is provided on an “as available” basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue features or the whole service, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

12. Suspension and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from your account page, which removes your login, passport, missions, votes and preferences. We may suspend or remove an account that breaches these terms or is used abusively.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on editorial information, including meal choices, prices paid or travel plans. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, and if you use the site as a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

14. Governing law

The site is operated from Cyprus and these terms are governed by Cypriot law, with the courts of Cyprus having jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may be able to bring proceedings there.

15. Operator

thebitepassport is an independently operated editorial food and travel website based in Cyprus. For questions concerning these terms or the service, contact us at thebitepassport@gmail.com.
